Catch Up

It's been awhile since my last post so I'll try to do a little catch up. We moved into our house on the 15th of November and have been loving every minute of it. We enjoy roller blading and excercising in the basement, relaxing in the jet tub, and playing with toys in the play room. We especially like parties. For Thanksgiving we had 28 people in our house with room to spare.

Breanna, Arriah, and Aidan performed for us after dinner with these skits:

The First Thanksgiving

Virginia

The day after Thanksgiving Lyndon, Jovana, and I went go-karting at this place in Redmond. It was really really fun, but way too expensive.

This week was full of a lot of emotions. A friend of mine (Eric Marchant) lost his wife to a tragic car accident, leaving behind five children. We went to the funeral yesterday. Though I didn't know his wife very well the combination of feelings for what Eric and his family must be going through and the sharp memories of Evan's funeral that hers brought to me left me crying my eyes out pretty much the entire time.

Our spirits were lifted later that evening though, because I took Bridget out for her birthday dinner. Unbeknownst to her I had been planning a surprise party for her with Jovana for the last couple weeks. Besides getting back from dinner a bit later than planned, everything went better than I could have hoped for. She had no idea until she walked in the house and turned on the lights and everybody yelled, "Surprise!"

Home Alone

Since Bridget is out of town with Jett for a few days, I have gotten to stay home with Graeden, Elliott, and Evan. It has been really fun so far. Yesterday was my company's annual picnic. It started at 11 a.m. and we got there right on time. Apparently that isn't a very common thing to do because there were only two or three other families there at that time. It was ok though because we got to do all kinds of stuff as soon as we wanted, as opposed to waiting in lines like we would have had to do if we came later. Some of the things we did were; hay ride, paddle boats, big bouncy slide thing, bouncy house, eat hotdogs and hamburgers and corn and cotton candy and ice cream and watermelon, climb a climbing wall, have a clown make a plane and a sword for us, pet a baby goat, knock down pins with a ball for a yoyo, and probably a bunch of other stuff that I can't think of. Unfortunately Bridget took the camera with her so I didn't get any pics but I might be able to gleen some from Panasonic's web site when I get back to work.

In the evening I took Elliott and Evan over to Nana's house and Graeden and I went to a "Sleeping Beauty" play where my niece Breanna played a fairie and my other niece Arriah played a troll. It was neat to watch them perform...even Graeden liked it, though he did ask if we could go home about half way through the play.

As Graeden and I walked back to our car we ran into Bridget's brother Brett who was in the middle of making a movie for a 48 hour movie contest with some of his friends. Graeden really wanted to watch so we hung out for about an hour or so. Graeden ended up coloring on the street with chalk most of the time and I ended up holding a filter thing over one of the lights so that the shadows from the light were dampened. I've always wanted to work on the set of a movie so for me it was a great experience. Graeden even got to keep the chalk which he was very excited about.

October 3, 2007

Now, you might think I've been getting lazy in my blog writing. That's not exactly true. I usually just can't think of anything of any real value to write about. I'm not sure that it's worth anybody's time for me to make a post when I don't have anything to say.

Anyway, for the last few weeks Graeden, Elliott, and their friends Bobbie and Andrew have been going to preschool. Bridget and the mothers of the other boys are the teachers and classes switch between the houses. Yesterday school was at our house and Bridget told the boys the story of The Little Red Hen. After doing several activities with them she had them do a play. Here it is edited down from about six and a half minutes:

Notice how they all volunteered (at the beginnning anyway)? That's because they had already learned that if they didn't help they wouldn't get the bread at the end. I guess that was more important than them saying their lines correctly.
