This morning was the hardest I've had getting up. I think it's because it is starting to get dark earlier and so it doesn't really feel like I should be up that early. I can tell though, that this is going to be a challenge to continue with day after day. My jog this morning was good though. I feel like I have way more energy than I did a few days ago when I first went jogging.
I read an article in Reader's Digest the other day about the power of gratitude. It said that people that find things to be thankful for every day are happier, get better sleep, and are more friendly. With that in mind I decided to use my jogging time to come up with things that I am truly thankful for, like living in a town that I feel safe going anywhere, anytime in. I have already begun using the jogging time as a time for personal prayer so I'm glad I am gaining stamina so that I can jog long enough to pray and be grateful.

Why is it that it's hard to go to bed early and it's hard to get up early? Even with the same amount of sleep it seems to be easier to go to bed late and to sleep in than early to bed and early to rise. I believe it is a test of our will power. We are commanded in the scriptures to not oversleep.
D&C 88: 124
Cease to be idle; cease to be unclean; cease to find fault one with another; cease to sleep longer than is needful; retire to thy bed early, that ye may not be weary; arise early, that your bodies and your minds may be invigorated.
I once heard that if you were in a mine or someplace where you had no concept of what time it was that you would run on a 25 hour cycle instead of 24. I can certainly believe that. It's interesting to think of sleep as such a vital aspect to our personal progression. Now I just have to conquer my other vices...
