September 11, 2007

This weekend my best friend from high school Mark, or Zlim Zlax as my kids like to call him, came down to Seattle with his buddy Aaron.

They used the Seahawks game on Sunday as an excuse to come down but it was really to see me...and for Aaron to come to Seattle. I spent all day with them on Saturday and yesterday (Monday), but they were on their own on Sunday. We spent most of Saturday in downtown Seattle. We, including all of my family, went to the aquarium (it wasn't that great, but there were some pretty cool fish, like the flashlight fish) and hung out along the pier. Then Bridget took the family home and the rest of us went to meet up with Dave and Tom (Dave is the CEO for the company Mark works for and Tom is his son) to watch some UFC fights. Dave is a very interesting person to talk to. He always asks what people's opinions are of things which I found was a feature that was very appealing. I think people are drawn to others that seem to take an interest in their thoughts and views. He's a very good people person.

Yesterday Mark, Aaron, and I took a ferry ride from Edmonds to Kingston. It was a beautiful day so the view of Mt. Rainer and Seattle were great. We had a relaxing lunch on the deck of a restaurant where we had chowder, fish, and sandwiches. It really felt like being in the carribean or something because of the perfect weather. When we got back to Edmonds we walked along the beach for awhile, had an ice cream, and then went on a hike through a trail surrounded by extremely tall trees. It was a great day to appreciate all of the natural beauty that we are able to enjoy in the Puget Sound.
