I haven't written for a little while because my mom and Gary came to town last week and so we blessed Evan on Sunday. I wanted to write down what was in his blessing but I can't find the paper that Jaquie Betts wrote for us, granted I haven't really looked for it either. Anyway, I'll write that as soon as I find the paper.
Meanwhile, Fall is upon us and that can mean only one thing. The new season of T.V. shows is upon us. I try to watch as many first episodes as I can so that I can narrow what I watch to the best two or three shows. So here's my review of this season's shows;
Biggest Loser: This is a reality show where fat people try to lose more weight, as a percentage of their total body weight, than everybody else. I watched it last season and it was pretty good but by the end I just felt lazy as I ate cheetos and watched other people getting excercise and improving themselves. The real turn off this year is that it just doesn't look like it's going to be any different than last year.
Chuck: This is about a guy that gets top secret government information implanted into his head by accident. He is a nerd (though he's actually pretty cool...he just isn't very good with girls) and the agent that comes to find out about the stored gov't info is a sexy girl. The acting is great, as well as the cinematograpy. It's a keeper.
Bionic woman: A girl gets in a car accident and instead of being taken to a hospital is taken to a top-secret lair where they repair her legs, an arm, and an eye with special powers...all this to ensure she lives as she would have died otherwise. It had potential to be good. The only real problem is that the bionic woman is just so angry. Why wouldn't she be happy that her life was saved? Oh well...one more show I never have to watch again.
Heroes: This was my favorite show last season so it would have taken a lot for me not to get into it this season. I wasn't disappointed with the season opener. A group of people discovering they have supernatural powers have to figure out what their purpose is and how they are going to use their powers. Pretty cliche plot outline, but very well done.
Journeyman: This show, besides having much better actors, was better when it was called "Quantum Leap." It may deserve another try, but I wasn't too impressed with the first episode.
Kid Nation: Who wouldn't love a show where a bunch of kids are dropped off in a ghost town and told to figure out how to run the place with no adult supervision? It is a great concept and I'm sure a great experience for the kids on the show...I'm just not too sure it has staying power. Though I've only seen one episode I'm already tired of watching whining, and generally immature kids make fools of themselves on national television. I think this will be one that I'll watch if I flip through channels and see it on, but I'm not going to go out of my way to watch it.
